Sheriff results are much easier to forge. If you're unable to give accurate Investigator intel in the case of being accused or jailed, your Mafia identity will quickly show through. Because it's a well known fact that people being framed appear as a Framer to Investigators, it's easier for them to claim their real role. The Sheriff's results say their target is a member of the Mafia, which means they could be any Mafia role, while the Investigator's sleuthing will say their target is specifically a Framer. Sheriff is a much stronger role to claim than Investigator, because the Investigator's results are more easily dismissed when it comes to announcing framed targets. If no one is suspected, using day 1's technique is a viable option, since there probably won't be any other blatant suspicious people for investigative roles to search. This is a tactic that some Veterans use to attract attention, which could be a quick end to your life if you frame them and they're an alert Vet. This can be especially powerful if the person claims an influential town role, but be cautious of the role list. If no one is suspected, but someone claims a role during the day, consider framing them. #FRAMER STRATEGY TOWN OF SALEM FULL#The only time this is a risky maneuver is when it's a night with a full moon and there's a Werewolf present, as they may attack the most popular player in hopes of scoring multiple kills that night. This is almost a no-brainer, as people like these are sure to attract investigative attention the next night (as long as the people suspecting them that day aren't Investigators or Sheriffs who just checked them out the previous night). If someone is suspected, but survives the day, frame them that night. Framing people who are likely to draw attention from investigative roles is a good method to go by. After day 1, frames are much easier to plan because of the inevitable chatter that happens each day.
